Dr Van Kerkhove told the Telegraph the WHO is looking at new names in case they go through all 24 letters of the Greek alphabet.
At the moment, constellations are being considered.
This means coronavirus variants could be named after constellations such as Orion, Leo, Gemini and Aries.

Privévaccin Covid 19 Oxford zal binnenkort beschikbaar zijn.
De Britse regelgevende instantie voor geneesmiddelen en gezondheidszorgproducten (MHRA) zal naar verwachting goedkeuring geven voor de Covid 19 vaccin op handen.
- De Britse toezichthouder, de MHRA, analyseert sinds half november studiegegevens
- Testen suggereert dat het vaccin dat ook is 62% of 90% effectief, afhankelijk van de doses
- Elk doseringsregime ziet er goed uit voor goedkeuring, fabrikant zegt
Als het is goedgekeurd, het vaccin – welke kan, behulpzaam, worden bewaard in een normale koelkast – zou een paar dagen later kunnen worden uitgerold en beschikbaar zijn voor privéklinieken zoals die in Harley Street in Londen.

- De nieuwe, meer besmettelijke stam van het virus kan het systeem met drie niveaus onbruikbaar maken

Het VK heeft zich verzekerd 100 miljoen doses van de prik, waarvan vier miljoen direct beschikbaar zijn, waardoor een belangrijke uitbreiding van het NHS-vaccinprogramma in het hele land mogelijk is.
In tegenstelling tot de Pfizer-prik, het Oxford-vaccin kan in gewone koelkasten worden bewaard, wat betekent dat het veel gemakkelijker kan worden toegediend, van duizenden sites in het VK.

Private Covid Coronavirus Waiting List
The Covid-19 vaccination programme is now underway across the UK and the NHS is making progress focusing on those at risk groups initially.
Private healthcare providers have capacity to help accelerate the vaccination programme.
Currently the UK government is not making use of this capacity which is frustrating.
If the main bottleneck were in the production of the vaccine, we would see a case for banning private sales. If the supply of vaccines were fixed, buying one privately would necessarily entail taking it away from somebody else (who, from a clinical perspective, might need it more urgently).
However, the main bottleneck seems to be in the logistics of the rollout, not vaccine production per se.
If private sales make additional resources available for the setting up of a private, additional distribution channel, then surely everyone benefits.
This is not “jumping the queue”.
This is setting up a parallel fast-track queue and private healthcare providers hope that the government will see sense and use the capacity available in the private sector.
Although not yet confirmed we hope that the this capacity that will be used once those in the government priority list have been vaccinated.
Private clinics are actively looking to source safe vaccines supplies so that we can assist in this critical programme in particular potential supply of the Oxford Covid Vaccine from India where it is being manufactured.

There are two potential approved vaccines currently in use; Pfizer and the Oxford vaccine.
After the first wave of NHS vaccinations and as more vaccines become available, there are hopes that stock may be available for the private sector in the future, in the same way as flu vaccination has become more widely available. Certainly that may be of benefit in the longer term, if revaccination is required to maintain protection.
NHS COVID-19 Vaccination Priorities
For now the rollout of the NHS vaccination programme is underway and working through as follows:
- Residents in a care home for older adults and staff working in care homes for older adults
- All those 80 years of age and over and health and social care workers
- All those 75 years of age and over
- All those 70 years of age and over and clinically extremely vulnerable individuals (not including pregnant women and those under 18 years of age)
- All those 65 years of age and over
- Adults aged 18 to 65 years in an at-risk group (see below)
- All those 60 years of age and over
- All those 55 years of age and over
- All those 50 years of age and over
- Rest of the population (to be determined)
